I've been getting into the idea of the picture postcard as a document of the everyday,
and I thought the eye-catching, graphic quality of this process would well complement a less picturesque side of the city.
So my goal was to create a mundane but uniquely San Franciscan series of images.
I knew I wanted to do a large series of three-layer screen printed postcards (four layers if you count the backs).
For inspiration I took a few trips to the southern neighborhoods, where the Victorians thin out and one can actually find industry.
I found there to be pretty much endless supply ideas there. For now, these are the best twelve.
This turned out as a series of 55 sets, packaged and numbered in homemade pouches.
about the series.
