Crete was the centre of Europe's first advanced civilization, the Minoans, from 2700 to 1420 BC. Every subsequent civilization until now has burned down and there are many active archaelogical sites. The island is defined its gorges and six groups of mountains, with some peaks exceeding 8000ft in elevation. The climate is primarily a hot hummer Medeterranean zone. It is te most populated island in Greece, with over 600,000 residents.

Mudhouse Residency
Date: July 2023
Location: Igios Ioannis, Crete (Greece)
Duration: two weeks
Link to Mudhouse Residency: here.
Notes:
Two weeks in the village of Agios Ioannis with 16 mostly American artists/musicians/performers.
Agios Ioannis is rugged hillside village overlooking the south coast of Crete
Crete is Greece‘s largest and most southernmost major island, among many other things.
Completed a book project: An Interesting Voyage to Near Europe’s Southernmost Point. A 116 page hardcover book made from binding pages made on the road using pen & ink, typewriter, office/postal supplies.
The project is based around three tent pole species that Crete shares with California: Grape Vine, Fig Tree, Olive Tree.
I decided to commercially print a paperback edition of the original hand sewed hardcover book. I worked to mimic the feel and variety of the original pages.
